2015 Trek Pure

Spin across town in comfort and style with Trek's Pure. With its upright riding position and foot-forward design, the Pure lets you place your feet on the ground for safety and confidence. It's also one of the easiest bikes to ride thanks to the at-the-ready controls, upright handlebars, cushy seat, and the 7-speed drivetrain that flattens the climbs. Plus, the powerful linear-pull brakes give you total confidence.

    Comments:

My wife and I are in our 50s and we bought two Pures when we moved to a subdivision that has lots of bike trails. Neither of us had ridden bikes in years and the Pure made it easy to pick up again. This isn't a bike for climbing mountains or the Tour de France, but for biking around the neighborhood it is perfect. You can stop the bike and stand over it (which you do a lot of in local biking) and the gearing is sufficient for gentle hills. I was particularly impressed with the quality of components and the frame. I'm not sure why people call it heavy-- For a cruiser, it is actually very light. In fact, most of the competing cruisers we looked at were made of steel and were very retro. This is a modern bike in every sense. It is odd that it doesn't come with fenders, considering its intended purpose. It seems that Trek would at least offer a fender package for the Pure, rather than making me go hunt one down that will fit and match the bike.

As a once competitive cyclist, I love hammering the road and have been for 35 years. And at the end of the day, there is nothing better than a relaxing ride on the Trek Pure. Incredibly approachable bike from the beginner to those who have been riding for decades. Without a doubt, this bike is nothing but pure easy-going fun.

      Comments:

Perfect bike for out-of-shape Boomers who haven't had a new bike since you were a kid (bikes with no gears, coaster brakes); easy transition to hand brakes, gears. After a little breakin, shifting is smooth and easy. As it says in the manual, if you are making slow, sharp turns, if you pedal, your foot will hit the front wheel or fender. Heavy, but necessarily so to support heavy rider.

      Comments:

I most like the upright seating position, no strain on back, hands or wrists. The 7 speeds work well for the area where I live and use the bike. Most of my riding time(5-8 miles daily)is in 2nd-4th gear but the others are there for the uphills or downhills. A few more color choices would be nice but surely does not detract from how much fun this bike is to ride. I have not owned a bike of this quality before and am very impressed with how quiet the bike is and how smooth it shifts.I am just really enjoying this bike.

      Comments:

My wife and I decided we needed to get outside more and so we decided to ride bikes again. I used to ride many many years ago to commute to and from school and work but as I got older I found bike riding to be more and more uncomfortable and so I stopped riding. After visiting Bike Line in Newark we decided to try the Trek Pure. I like the way it rides and how I sit on the bike. I'm not hunched over the handle bars but sitting up straight so no more back and neck pain. I'm not in a hurry to get anywhere and I find 7 gears works for me, I wont be breaking any records but thats not why we deiced on the Pure. And a shout out to Paul at Bike Line, he is a no stress type sales associate and a pleasure to buy a bike from.

I did a lot of research and test riding the Trek Pure and the Electra Townie. Both were a delight to ride but I felt like the Trek Pure fit me better. I use to ride a Trek hybrid and would ride on average 10-12 miles a day. Now that I have my Trek Pure I find I ride further than I use to just for the shear enjoyment of riding. I will admit my pace is a little slower but I find the 7 gears more than sufficient for the area I live in. I really enjoy riding this bike!

            Comments:

I purchased this bike to commute to work with. It is comfortable, and surprisingly quick. I have mine setup with rack & fenders. I haul books, clothes and other gear to work and back each day. It is a great bike. My only gripe, is I wish the frame had options to set the bike up with disc brakes. While the bike cruises generally at relaxing speeds, I can still wind it up to 40+ km/h; at those speeds better brakes would be a bonus. I am 6'2", I swapped the 330mm seat post with a 400mm one, and it fits well. I also swapped the seat with a mtn bike seat. If you are looking for a practical, comfortable commuter, this is the one. It's unique geometry fits a wide range of body sizes.
