Gets Heavyweight Boomer Back on the Bike

    Comments:

Perfect bike for out-of-shape Boomers who haven't had a new bike since you were a kid (bikes with no gears, coaster brakes); easy transition to hand brakes, gears. After a little breakin, shifting is smooth and easy. As it says in the manual, if you are making slow, sharp turns, if you pedal, your foot will hit the front wheel or fender. Heavy, but necessarily so to support heavy rider.

    Comments:

I most like the upright seating position, no strain on back, hands or wrists. The 7 speeds work well for the area where I live and use the bike. Most of my riding time(5-8 miles daily)is in 2nd-4th gear but the others are there for the uphills or downhills. A few more color choices would be nice but surely does not detract from how much fun this bike is to ride. I have not owned a bike of this quality before and am very impressed with how quiet the bike is and how smooth it shifts.I am just really enjoying this bike.

    Comments:

My wife and I decided we needed to get outside more and so we decided to ride bikes again. I used to ride many many years ago to commute to and from school and work but as I got older I found bike riding to be more and more uncomfortable and so I stopped riding. After visiting Bike Line in Newark we decided to try the Trek Pure. I like the way it rides and how I sit on the bike. I'm not hunched over the handle bars but sitting up straight so no more back and neck pain. I'm not in a hurry to get anywhere and I find 7 gears works for me, I wont be breaking any records but thats not why we deiced on the Pure. And a shout out to Paul at Bike Line, he is a no stress type sales associate and a pleasure to buy a bike from.

      Comments:

I did a lot of research and test riding the Trek Pure and the Electra Townie. Both were a delight to ride but I felt like the Trek Pure fit me better. I use to ride a Trek hybrid and would ride on average 10-12 miles a day. Now that I have my Trek Pure I find I ride further than I use to just for the shear enjoyment of riding. I will admit my pace is a little slower but I find the 7 gears more than sufficient for the area I live in. I really enjoy riding this bike!

      Comments:

I am a formerly avid/competitive rider who has been essentially "off the bike" for about 30 years. I am now 63 years old and starting over. I picked out this bike after trying several ATBs at the local shop. The more I ride it the better I like it. I ride 5 - 8 miles regularly and 20 miles occasionally. I will comment on the stock tires. My bike is 2 years old and came with 1.9 tires of hybrid type. My wife's Pure, 1 year old, came with 2.125 beach cruisers. The ride and response of the lighter, higher pressure tires make this a more versatile bike.

        Comments:

I am a 46 year old male that used to ride miles and miles a day on my 10 speed. When I bought a mountain bike I couldn't believe how much different it ws to ride and how much more resisitance there was. It wasn't long before I quit riding all together. Fast forward ten years and I am back at the bike shop looking for a comfortable bike to ride. After taking the Trek Pure out into the parking lot for a quick spin up and down the road I was instantly sold. I couldn't wait to ride it when I got home...this was what I remember bike riding to be like. It's so easy to ride and just glides along the pavement bike riding is fun again! For anybody that thinks these bikes aren't good exercise just ride farther or ride uphill! It has seven gears which seems to be just right with first being ample to haul my butt up any hills and seventh is great for the downhill sprint to the finish. I have not found anything about it that I dislike and I have had mine for four months. I bought mine at [...] their prices seem competetive and you get some free services for the first year.

I love the bike. It is great for leisure rides, running errands, and the push-out motion your legs make *(instead of push down)makes it easier. Its overall very classic in style and function.
